Every sport has its game, competition or exhibition. We participate in 5 tournaments in our region, and there are National and World tournaments that our students travel to in order to test their skills against competitors of similar age and rank.

Tournament standings

Earn points toward titles — and so much more

State

Earn the highest points in your state for your age and rank and you'll be the State Champion.

District

Finish in the top 10 in your state, age and rank to be invited to compete at Districts for a District Champion title.

World

Black belts ranked in the world top 10 for their age and rank are invited to the Tournament of Champions for a World Champion title — a great honor and a wonderful experience.

Keep track of your tournament points and be patient — it can take a week or two for points to post. If you see a discrepancy, email ATA headquarters at tournaments@ataonline.com.

Tournament checklist

Here's what to bring to make sure you have fun, stay safe and follow the rules:

  • Tournament entry form
  • Clean, pressed uniform and belt
  • Sparring gear and weapons
  • Mouthguard (and cup for boys!)
  • XMA/Creative: XMA uniform, weapons and a charged speaker
  • Water bottle and snacks
  • Positive attitude!
